Coloured photo of the village of Amalfi nestled below the mountains. First mentioned in 6th Century, it quickly became a maritime powerhouse. In the 1920-30's was the playground for British upper class and aristocracy. Today it's a justly famous tourist destination (along with Positano and Ravello) on the Costiera Amalfitana (Amalfi Coast) and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
